Our Wedding Photography Service
I’m here to take the photographs you want. The images that touch you, that thrill you and that will always remind you of how wonderful your wedding was. My aim is to depict your love, your friends, your family, the details – all the moments and ingredients of the biggest day in your life. Here’s how:
Planning the wedding photographs
The first step is a no-obligation meeting so you can be reassured about how I work. I highly recommend it – after all, although you will not notice me, we will be together for most of the wedding day.
It’s a great chance for me to get to know you, too, and hear about the venue and your plans. I can guide you through any areas of uncertainty. With 20 years of experience in photographing weddings, I’ve helped steer many couples towards making the best use of the time, the venue, and all the important details. It’s all part of making sure you will get the very best shots, and have the greatest experience.
You will get to know my working style and be assured that you will be booking a professional, expert and discreet photographer who will blend into your day, and cause no disruption, yet is fully able to marshal guests and family efficiently for any formal shots.
You can tell me the photos you have in mind and we can discuss them so we are all clear about what you are going to get.
Pre-wedding or engagement shoot
A pre-wedding shoot is included in the price and is a vital part of our service. For many couples, this becomes a free bonus engagement shoot! It’s fun and relaxed but it has an important purpose. It allows you to learn to be the best model so we know how to capture your best shots, in the way that suits you, without it being a distraction on the day. It’s a great way of taking some of the pressure off the day. We can do this at your wedding location, in the studio, or in one of our local towns.
I’ve worked for two decades in the Cotswolds – Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Warwickshire – and so I’m familiar with many venues already, but this wonderful area can still surprise me. I’m always delighted to come across new places for weddings and will explore them thoroughly before the big day. Whether I have worked in a venue previously or not I always make this location visit sometime during the week prior to the wedding date - at the correct time of day. This tells me where the sun is, what is beautiful in the landscape or gardens at that time of year, and I can think about where the best place to photograph would be if the sun is out – and where the best place would be if the weather is bad. I also talk through your photography schedule with the wedding co-ordinator to check that it will all work smoothly.
The wedding day
I want to tell the whole story of the day, so my team and I are usually at work an hour or so before the ceremony. We’ll be capturing all the excitement of the preparation – while not getting in anyone’s way. We’ll cover the bride, her family and her bridesmaids getting ready. The hairdresser, the make-up artist, the food, the transport, the flowers, the ring, the shoes…it’s a mini-documentary! We make sure we cover all the details you have lavished time and effort on getting perfect. We often use black and white photography for this. I always find a personal ‘something’ which captures the atmosphere and that I will keep coming back to throughout the day.
And we’re not forgetting the groom. Mike has joined groom and ushers on the golf course, in the pub or even at the betting office! He also photographs the guests arriving at the church while I alternate between the bride and groom.
Everything is photographed with a light touch and no panic, carefully paced so that you are unaware of us as we work. Generally we photograph throughout the reception to the first dance, covering the speeches and the cake-cutting – if that is what you want.
I start work on the photographs the very next day. It’s important that its essence is fresh in my mind and also makes sure you will get the photographs quickly.
Before we meet again I will have chosen the best of the 1,500 or so images we will have taken on the day, and edited them down using my professional eye to a manageable level for the uninitiated picture editor – ie you. You will be presented with pick of the very best and I will then help guide you so you can swiftly decide on the final selection.
All pictures are post-processed and many can be reworked to create art prints – eg to sepia, true black and white, soft focus or grain. Depending on your package, we can prepare your photographs while you are on your honeymoon, designing your album, or putting the pictures on disk.
Wedding Albums and books
I’ve scoured the far ends of the earth to find the best albums. And that’s where I have found them – in New Zealand. My suppliers there work fast and are totally reliable. These albums are timeless and beautifully cut with bevelled window mounts. For something more contemporary, we also design fabulous coffee table books. Both of these options have smaller versions for parents.
If you only – or also – want images to disk, you will receive your photographs in both high resolution for print and low resolution for internet use, with the associated licence of permission to print.
Your pictures will go on our Facebook and gallery pages, created with a secure login for privacy, which you can also give to your guests. Orders can be made online through our secure system. We print and send out the photographs ordered.
Finished and framed photographs
Our framing and finishing service gives you unrivalled quality; art prints, sumptuous papers and a range of display options to present your pictures at their best. You can chose from a range of wall prints and boxed prints.
In the unprecedented event of any problems, I am covered by professional insurance. In practice this is worth nothing because you can't replay the day. My real insurance is the experience I have collected over the years.
